Legendary Sri Lanka national cricket team player Muttiah Muralitharan has praised Indian national cricket team bowlers Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi.

Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was fantastic with the ball during the recently concluded T20I series against Australia and finished as the leading wicket-taker.

He had a huge impact in the powerplays of the series as he bowled 7 overs in that phase and picked up 5 wickets and conceded 45 runs. Ravi Bishnoi received the ‘Player of the Series’ award for his impressive performances.

Talking about left-arm bowler Axar Patel, he too was brilliant, especially in the last two matches where he won the Player of the Match award. Notably, Axar Patel was left out of the squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa despite his exceptional performance with the ball.

Overall, Bishnoi bagged 9 wickets at an average of 18.22 and economy of 8.20 in the five-match T20I series against Australia. While Axar picked 6 wickets with an average of 20.66 and economy of 6.20.

Bishnoi is different from any other leg spinner – Muttiah Muralitharan

Speaking on Jio Cinema, Muttiah Muralitharan said that India has always been blessed with excellent bowlers. He added that Bishnoi is very different from other spinners because he bowls faster. The Sri Lanka great also praised Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

“India has always had a good attitude in every generation. You see from Anil (Kumble) to (Ravi) Ashwin and now the youngsters who have come. Bishnoi is unlike any other leg spinner. He bowls faster and slides the ball a lot and Axar is also very accurate, he doesn’t spin the ball much and Washi is also similar because he doesn’t spin much and is very accurate and quite a bit faster,” said Muralitharan.

Muralitharan also gave advice to the young spinners. He stated:

“I think the most important thing is that the player gets to the field. He prepares a field and pitches to that field. It is also important to see the strength of the hitter.”
