Fans on Twitter reacted after Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals in the 62nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. They outscored their opponents by 47 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (May 12 ) to stay in contention for the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru got off to a good start with the bat, thanks to Virat Kohli (27). The batsman came out firing and added a 23-run partnership with Faf du Plessis, who managed just six runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After that, Will Jacks (41) and Rajat Patidar (52) took center stage. The Jacks-Patidar duo added 88 runs and put pressure on the Delhi Capitals bowlers. Cameron Green (32*) in the end ensured that Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended the innings on a high.
Based on collective effort, they scored a total of 187 for nine. For Delhi Capitals, Rasikh Salam and Khaleel Ahmed picked two wickets, while Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav bagged one wicket each for their team.
Jake Fraser-McGurk (21) batted as he usually does at the top, but Delhi Capitals got off to the worst possible start. They were reeling at 30 for four as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bowlers were on top of the opposition.
With the team under pressure. Captain Axar Patel (57) and Shai Hope (29) got their team back into the match. The duo added 56 runs for the fifth wicket, but nothing went right after that. Delhi Capitals continued to lose at regular intervals as captain Axar Patel was stranded at one end.
The stand-in captain tried his best but could not take his team home as Delhi Capitals lost and got some unfortunate exits. Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals at 140 and won the game by 47 runs.
