Punjab Kings (PBKS) are currently facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 17th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 on Saturday, April 11 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
Punjab kings wear black armbands to show respect for Yamuna ship accident
Punjab Kings players took the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad wearing black armbands. It was the gesture of solidarity with the families affected by the tragic incident in Vrindavan.
The tragic accident occurred near Keshi Ghat along the Yamuna River on April 10 when a boat carrying 25 to 30 people suddenly lost its balance and fell into the water. The incident turned into a deadly disaster after the board collided with a floating pontoon drum left behind.

Most of the passengers were pilgrims and tourists from Punjab, especially Ludhiana and Muktsar. At least 11 lives, both men and women, are said to have been lost so far, while several others remain missing.
A massive rescue operation was immediately launched under the supervision of the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, local police and Mathura army units. Around 18 people are said to have been rescued in this operation, but search operations are still ongoing as authorities try to find those still missing.
