The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL), match number 23, was between Royal Challengers (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). RCB won the toss and opted to play first. During the game, another injury scare occurred when LSG captain Rishabh Pant was hit on the elbow while batting against Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood.
Rishabh Pant could not continue, retired injured and returned to the pavilion. The LSG skipper was upset with himself for not being able to continue. Hazlewood came to console the keeper batsman as he showed off his playing skills as he walked back to the dugout. It will be a big blow to the LSG camp if Pant does not return.
Will Rishabh Pant return to bat?
Rishabh Pant’s injury might have come at the wrong place as LSG’s top order has not fired and there have been two wickets in the early stages of the game, with Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran back in the pavilion. Super Giants are in real trouble as RCB bowlers are all over LSG.

Rishabh Pant needs to come in to bat as he has been a brave cricketer, and as we saw him take the field during the England vs India series last year, where he batted with a broken toe and scored a brilliant half-century. The left-hander has a lot of ability to withstand pain and also knows the importance of playing the game in progress.
Mitchell Marsh controls LSG innings
Mitchell Marsh has been batting brilliantly as the Australia T20 captain has been staying at one end and playing his shots and controlling the innings at the moment. Marsh needs to take responsibility and play long innings if LSG has to score a big total.
Markram has failed again as the starting pair of Marsh and Markram, who were brilliant last season, failed to make the runs and starts that LSG needed. One of the batsmen failed to score runs and gave away the wicket cheaply.
It’s a good wicket to bat on – Rishabh Pant
During the toss, Rishabh Pant said, “Pretty confident. It’s a good batting wicket. Because on wickets like this, you can bat first or bowl first. In the end, you have to play better cricket. We feel as a group, we have to regroup, unite and take on whatever role we are playing as a team. And it’s easier, in every match, we don’t want to introspect how we are playing cricket.”
He further added, “We just want to trust the group. And hopefully, people will raise their hands and say: I’m going to win the game for the team. Definitely, you know, we talk about being leaders. And there are a lot of leaders in the group. In the end, you have to go out and perform at the same time, absorb that pressure for the team and try to do well. We are playing with the same team.”
