‘Riyan Parag and Ajinkya Rahane in race for worst batsman’: Kris Srikkanth releases wild statement

Former India captain and 1983 World Cup winner Kris Srikkanth took to his YouTube channel and severely criticized Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag for his poor show with the bat in IPL 2026.

While the Royals sit third in the points table after winning each of their first four matches but losing the next two, Parag’s form with the bat has left a lot to be desired. He has made just 61 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 122 and has failed to make a significant impact with the bat.

‘In the race to be the worst batsman’ – Kris Srikkanth on Parag and Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane has so far made 152 runs in 7 matches with a strike rate of almost 145, but the team he leads, Kolkata Knight Riders, is last in the points table with just 1 win in seven matches.

While Srikkanth was criticizing Riyan Parag, Rahane was also involved in the debate.

“Parag, as always, is only fit for his graceful walks after doing nothing with bat and ball. There is a competition between him and Rahane as to who is the worst batsman. Parag did well for one season, and that’s it,” Srikkanth said.

‘They will only fight for ninth against tenth’ – Kris Srikkanth on KKR and LSG

While Rahane-led KKR are at the bottom of the points table, Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants are currently at ninth place with just two wins in six matches and a three-match losing streak.

Kris Srikkanth said that he does not believe that either team will be able to move up the points table and that these two teams will be locked in a battle to avoid 10th place. On the other hand, he backed the seventh-ranked Mumbai Indians to come back and even qualify for the playoffs.

“MI has the ability to do well in important matches, which can suddenly take them to the playoffs. After this match, no one can count MI out. KKR and LSG, of course, are already eliminated. They will only fight for ninth against tenth.” He added.

‘He is a Test player who plays T20’ – Kris Srikkanth on the DC batsman

Kris Srikkanth also weighed in on Tuesday’s clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals and picked the former as favourite.

He opined that DC’s current No. 3 Karun Nair was not a suitable batsman for the T20 format and that would give SRH the edge in this contest.

“SRH will be the favourites. DC has problem number 3. They will play Karun Nair there. He is a Test player who plays T20.” he concluded
