Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised Rinku Singh after the team’s victory in the third and final T20I against Afghanistan. Rohit Sharma highlighted Rinku Singh’s maturity and calm demeanor, highlighting his successful transition from the IPL to representing India.

India secured victory against Afghanistan in the second super over in Bengaluru on January 17. The first super over ended with both teams scoring 16 runs each. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi defended 12 runs as Afghanistan were bowled out for just one run in the second super over.

Rohit Sharma underlined the importance of association with Rinku Singh. Rohit highlighted Singh’s consistency and stated that he played the role of finisher for the national team well.

“Creating the partnership was important and we (Rinku and I) kept talking to each other so as not to lose that intention in the important games and it was a good game for us, the pressure was there and it was important to bat long and hard. deep and without compromising the intention we want to show. Rohit said.

“In the last series he played he showed what he can do with the bat. He very calm and he knows his strength quite well. He is coming of age and doing what is expected of him and has done well in India. He bodes well for the team moving forward, he wanted someone like that at the backend and we know what he has done in the IPL and it has also brought him to Indian colours.” he added.

Rinku Singh joined Rohit Sharma in the crease, with India reeling at 22/4. The left-hander added an unbeaten 190-run partnership with Sharma for the fifth wicket. Rinku scored 69 runs off 39 deliveries at a strike rate of 176.92, including six sixes and two boundaries.

The 26-year-old has amassed 356 runs in 11 T20I innings at an impressive average of 89 and a strike rate of 176.24, with two fifties. His consistent performances have made him a formidable candidate for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.

Rohit Sharma reflected on his batting experiences during the game and in both Super Overs. He humorously compared it to a memory of an IPL game, stating that he did not remember the last time he batted three times in a match.

“I don’t remember the last time this happened. I think I batted 3 times in one of the IPL games.” Rohit stated.

India posted a formidable total of 212/4 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Afghanistan also reached a total of 212. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran forged a strong opening partnership of 93 runs, while Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi contributed to leveling the match. Washington Sundar posted bowling figures of 3/18, with Kuldeep Yadav and Avesh Khan each securing a wicket.
