Rohit Sharma injury update: Mumbai Indians release official medical bulletin ahead of SRH clash

Mumbai Indians have issued the medical report for their senior batsman Rohit Sharma, who has missed the last three Mumbai Indians matches.

Mumbai Indians once again have a disappointing season in this edition of the competition. Having played only 7 matches this season, they were only able to win two games and have suffered five defeats.

What has been the biggest concern for them this season is their performance despite having several big names in the team. However, the starting position could be strengthened with the return of Rohit Sharma, as he would partner Quinton de Kock.

MI spokesperson updates on Rohit Sharma’s injury ahead of SRH clash

The Mumbai Indians’ star batsman played his last match of this season against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He hasn’t been back in the mix since and has been sidelined with an injury.

Quinton de Kock replaced him in the team and Rohit missed the last three matches for the Challengers. As per the latest update, he is currently progressing and his availability will only be confirmed in the toss by the Mumbai Indians captain.

“He continues to progress. Any decision on his availability (in the game against SRH) will be taken at the draw tomorrow,” the MI spokesperson said.

Ashwani Kumar on his role in the team and intimidation due to the presence of senior players

Ashwani Kumar, the left-arm seamer from the Mumbai Indians camp, was the one who attended the pre-match conference from the Mumbai end. He said he has not been intimidated by the presence of senior Indian professionals like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar in the team.

This seemed obvious as Ashwani was chosen as his replacement after the two Indian seamers failed to show any sort of promising form worth retaining their place in the Mumbai Indians side. Ashwani, on the other hand, picked a four-wicket haul in his first game of the season against the Gujarat Titans.

He also revealed that under the guidance of world-class pacer Lasith Malinga, he has been working hard to improve his pacers and yorkers against one of the best bowlers in the world in the shortest format of the game.

Keshav Maharaj replaces Mitchell Santner at Mumbai Indians

Ahead of their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, England all-rounder Will Jacks has joined the Mumbai Indians camp and will be seen with the team in the upcoming games.

On the other hand, Mitchell Santner, the veteran star who has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL with a left shoulder injury, has been replaced by South African spinner Keshav Maharaj.

If Jacks comes into the setup then he could be seen opening the innings with Quinton de Kock until Rohit is fit enough to join the XI and then he could be pushed further down the order playing in a finishing role.
