Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fielding coach Jonty Rhodes spoke about the team’s plan for Rohit Sharma if the Mumbai Indians batsman participates in the auction. He said that they would be ready to welcome him as he is a great player.

Since the last edition of the Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma has been in the news and there have been reports that he might be involved in the upcoming mega auction. This comes after the unfair treatment meted out to the Indian national cricket team by the five-time champions, which also received a lot of criticism.

Ahead of IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians made a big announcement. They sacked Rohit as the captain of the team and appointed Hardik Pandya as the new captain.

This is a big surprise because the hitter led the team to five league titles and made them the most successful.

Rohit was reportedly unhappy with the way he was being treated, and there were also reports claiming that there was a rift in the team due to Hardik Pandya’s leadership.

Not only this, it was even reported that 2024 was his last season with the franchise and he will enter the auction.

Recently, there were reports suggesting that Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants were interested in acquiring the services of their team’s opening batsman for the league. They are keen to go all out for the Indian national cricket team captain because of what he has done for the team.

Reports claimed that both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have set aside a huge amount of money for Rohit Sharma and the franchises just want confirmation from the Indian National Cricket Team captain if he will leave the Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Jonty Rhodes wants Rohit Sharma to play in IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants fielding coach Jonty Rhodes said that they are interested in bringing Rohit Sharma into the team. He explained that all teams would want to acquire the services of the batsman if he goes on the auction. Speaking to News 24, he explained:

“If Rohit enters the auction, LSG is ready to welcome him. He is a great player; every team will be happy to bid for him in the auction.”

Rohit has been a legend in the Indian Premier League. He started his career with the Deccan Chargers in the league but after that, he moved to the Mumbai Indians and became the heart and soul of the team. He was given the leadership of the team in 2013 and since then, it has been a historic run.

Rohit Sharma captained Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. With the kind of impact he has made in the league both as a batsman and captain, if he enters the auction, he would certainly take the auction by storm.
