Rohit Sharma RULED OUT from IPL 2026 games; Hardik Pandya was devastated

Rohit Sharma suffered a major setback with a hamstring injury and retired injured during their knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Finally, a report states that he could be ruled out of the competition after the injury.

Rohit Sharma was one of the best players for Mumbai Indians in this season of the competition. The former MI captain also topped the orange list on one occasion after the second match against the Delhi Capitals.

However, he had to leave the field after the MI opener battled with a massive hamstring injury. He left the field and retired injured but hurt the team badly as the Hardik Pandya-led team lost the game by a narrow margin of 18 runs.

Rohit Sharma ruled out of MI’s next two games in IPL 2026

Former MI captain Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury and retired injured mid-match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the TATA IPL 2026 game.

He underwent scans and his availability is highly uncertain for the upcoming Mumbai Indians games. Now, according to the latest reports from NDTV, he is likely to miss the next two matches for Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians’ next two matches in TATA IPL 2026 are scheduled to be played against Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans on April 16 and 20, respectively. These two matches will also be part of the rivalry week.

MI’s woes mount after Rohit Sharma’s sudden injury

Mumbai Indians started IPL 2026 with a win in the first game of the season. After the win, Mumbai Indians have struggled with their recent form and have lost three consecutive games, including matches against DC, RR and RCB.

Mumbai have struggled with poor form from their players, especially those with the ball. None of their players have played a good enough shot as they have made runs with an economy rate of over 12 on most occasions.

In the batting department, consistency is what MI’s batsmen have been lacking and now, with Rohit Sharma no longer part of the franchise for the next two games, concerns would increase as a major vacuum would be created around the opening slot.

Who will replace Rohit Sharma in MI camp?

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, MI would need an opener in the batting order. Mumbai could be considering Ryan Rickelton to open alongside Quinton de Kock, the other South African superstar who has been waiting for a chance in this edition of the IPL.

But in such circumstances, MI may not have a place to pick another foreign cricketer in the bowling department. They would be backed by Sherfane Rutherford along with another foreign cricketer like Will Jacks or Mitchell Santner.

However, if Jacks returns in time, then he could be used as a replacement opener in the team against Punjab Kings. However, MI coach Kieron Pollard gave a hint about his return before the next match, which will be positive for the team.
