India captain Rohit Sharma achieved a great feat for his team in Test cricket. The senior opener batted and became the 17th player from Team India to surpass 4000 runs in the longest format of the game.

Rohit Sharma achieved the feat on Day 3 of the ongoing fourth Test match against England. The penultimate match of the five-match Test series between the teams will be held at the Jharkhand Cricket Association complex in Ranchi, where the hosts have asserted their authority.

Rohit Sharma achieved the milestone during the second innings of the match. India were set a target of 192 runs to chase and the first batsman came out with a positive intention, ensuring that his team got off to a valiant start in the final half hour of the game.

Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten with 24 runs at stumps on day 3 and with his knock he surpassed 4000 runs. The Indian captain, who currently has 4003 runs, would hope to add more to his tally and lead his team to victory in the fourth Test and also seal the series with a match left in Dharamshala.

Rohit Sharma would now hope to overtake Gautam Gambhir in the list of India’s leading run-getters in Test cricket. The left-hander’s career with 4154 runs in 58 Test matches.
