He League of Legends Cricket (LLC 2023) has seen an unwanted controversy between two former Indian cricketers, Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth. The controversy occurred during the Eliminator match between the Gujarat Giants and the India Capitals.

The Gambhir-led Capitals won the match by 12 runs, but not before the captain found himself in the middle of an unwanted controversy with his former Indian teammate. Below is a timeline of the events that took place.

In the second over of India Capitals’ innings, Gambhir hit Sreesanth for six and four. The player then threw a dot ball, after which there was a confrontation between the two. The referees had to interrupt when players from both sides got into a verbal altercation.

LLC announces investigation into Gautam Gambhir vs Sreesanth Spat

Syed Kirmani, head of Legends League Cricket’s code of conduct and ethics committee, said they will conduct an internal investigation into the matter. Here is a statement from him about the incident.

“Legends League Cricket strives to uphold the spirit of cricket and sportsmanship and will conduct an internal investigation into the violation of the code of conduct. Any misconduct that occurred both on and off the field, including on social media platforms, will be dealt with strictly.

“The code of conduct has clearly stated that necessary action will be taken against players who bring the league, the spirit of the game and the teams they represent into disrepute. “We have made our stance very clear and continue to work to share the game with millions of cricket lovers across the country and the world.” Kirmani said quoted by Legends League Cricket handle X.

Meanwhile, Gambhir’s comments on Sreesanth were in reference to his 2013 spot-fixing case in the IPL. Sreesanth along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, accused of spot-fixing. Sreesanth was arrested from his friend’s house. All three were playing for the Rajasthan Royals franchise at the time. The BCCI banned Sreesanth from playing any form of cricket. The Supreme Court then dropped all charges against Sreesanth, allowing him to return.
