Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has conveyed his good wishes to Jay Shah, who was recently elected as the new ICC President. Shah’s announcement was a mere formality after he decided to contest the elections. There was no need for elections as he was the only candidate for the post.
Before joining the ICC, Jay Shah was the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, that post is vacant and the BCCI will be looking for a new secretary.

Jay Shah becomes the youngest president of the ICC
Jay Shah’s term will last for three years, after which he will be eligible to resume his role as BCCI secretary. At 35, he is also the youngest person to become ICC president.
Shah is also the fifth Indian to hold this position after Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar, marking a significant step in his career as a cricket administrator.
During his tenure as BCCI Secretary, Shah introduced several reforms in Indian cricket, both in the national team and domestic cricket. He ensured that players prioritised domestic cricket over lucrative IPL contracts during his tenure.
