Team India wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has been added to India’s D squad for the first round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy season.
Sanju Samson has replaced Ishan Kishan, who was out with a groin injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday evening.
Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to a groin injury.
The young batsman was injured while playing for Jharkhand during the All-India Buchi Babu tournament. He scored 114 runs in his first match and 41 runs in the second before Jharkhand’s exit.

Earlier, Sanju Samson was not included in any of the four squads for the Duleep Trophy.
The BCCI confirmed Samson’s inclusion in Team D on Wednesday, September 4. The domestic season began with the 2024 Duleep Trophy on Thursday, with matches scheduled in Bengaluru and Anantapur.
“Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to a groin injury sustained during the ongoing All-India Buchi Babu Tournament,” BCCI said in a statement on Wednesday.

Suryakumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna ruled out of the first round
BCCI confirmed that Prasidh Krishna will miss the first round of the event. Krishna is undergoing rehabilitation following surgery on his left quadriceps tendon.
Suryakumar Yadav will also be unavailable for the first round due to a sprained right thumb sustained while participating in the Buchi Babu Tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India said they are still assessing Yadav’s injury.
The BCCI said they will conduct further assessment next week to decide his availability for the second round. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been cleared to play and will be available for selection.
“Batsman Suryakumar Yadav will also be unavailable for the first round of the Duleep Trophy after suffering a sprained right thumb while participating in the All-India Buchi Babu Tournament,” the statement added.
“The BCCI medical team continues to assess his injury and further assessment next week will determine his availability for the second round.”
“Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is close to completing his rehabilitation following surgery on his left quadriceps tendon and will miss the first round game of the Duleep Trophy.”
Two matches are currently underway in the tournament. India A is playing against India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match between India C and India D is currently underway at Anantapur.
