The Scotland cricket team will tour the United Arab Emirates for a tri-nation ODI series against the hosts and Canada. The series will be played under the umbrella of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. After the tri-series, Scotland will also play a three-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates. The Scottish Cricket Board has also announced two separate teams for both series. Experienced batsman Richie Berrington will lead the team in both formats.

Brother duo Scott Currie and Brad Currie are among the players to receive a maiden ODI call-up, while young batsman Charlie Tear also received an international call-up for the first time. Fast bowler Bread Wheal is returning to the ODI side after almost five years and played his last ODI match in the year 2019.

Scotland have had decent performances in the past. Scotland failed to make it to the 2023 ODI World Cup and finished third in the Super Six stage of the tournament and was able to win 3 games and defeat former world champions West Indies.

Scotland also ended up being the winners of the European Qualifiers for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and ended up earning a place in the main round of the tournament alongside the Netherlands. Scotland were undefeated throughout the tournament and won six of six matches.

Head of Performance Steve Snell, announcing Scotland’s squad for the tri-national ODI series and T20I series against the United Arab Emirates, said it will be a great opportunity for players to go out and perform in a variety of formats. He stated that the selection of the players was done to bring out the best performance from them in the first leg of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

He said: “This tour is a great opportunity for our players to go out and compete in a variety of formats, and selection has been about trying to find a balance, firstly, between producing our best possible performances in the first round of matches of the CWCL2. , and secondly, be attentive to future demands.”
