Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shahzad spoke about Shaheen Afridi as T20I captain. He said making the speedster captain was the right decision taken by the PCB.
After the ICC World Cup 2023 debacle, Pakistan Cricket witnessed massive changes. The coaching staff was sacked and with it the PCB sacked the entire selection committee. As if this were not enough, there was also a change in the team’s management.
Babar Azam resigned as captain of the team and PCB appointed two different captains. While Shan Masood was named captain of the Test, Shaheen Afridi was given the opportunity to captain the team in the T20I format. His first assignment will be the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.

The pacer won two titles as captain and was off the selectors’ radar for captaincy selection even as there were talks to remove Babar Azam as captain.
Ahmed Shahzad highlighted that Shaheen Afridi winning two titles in the PSL is a very important thing. He backed him to succeed as Pakistan captain and sent him good wishes. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Shaheen Afridi was the best choice in the current circumstances. He has won two PSL titles, which in itself is a great thing. Lahore Qalandars showed faith in him and won them two titles. I expect him to make good decisions and deliver under pressure. My prayers are with him.”

Shaheen Afridi will be seen in action next during the Test series against Australia. Pakistan will play three matches. The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Perth from December 14. Attention will then focus on the second match, which will be played from December 27 in Melbourne. The final match will take place in Sydney from January 3.
Shaheen Afridi is expected to play an important role in the series. Pakistan haven’t played great cricket in Australia lately.
