Mumbai Indians fly to Chennai for their second clash against their biggest rivals in IPL history. They would look to avenge their last match defeat at Wankhede which broke the team’s morale as they faced a staggering defeat by a margin of 103 runs.
Chennai Super Kings started the powerplay in surprising fashion against Mumbai Indians at Chepauk, having dismissed Will Jacks early in the match. Despite that, MI put up a solid score on the powerplay with Ryan Rickelton and Naman Dhir achieving some big hits on the powerplay.
However, the power play, which had ended on a perfect note, could have been ruined by the incoming spinner. Noor Ahmed, who came into the attack immediately after the end of field restrictions.
Shivam Dube bowls the simplest catch as Naman Dhir gets an early save
Just after the end of the powerplay, Noor Ahmed could have delivered a special blow with a double knock to Mumbai Indians had it not been for Shivam Dube dropping one of the simplest catches of this year’s TATA IPL 2026.
Naman Dhir tried to clip the Afghan spinner’s first ball, and the ball left the surface quite late, took the batsman’s outside edge and flew back to the fielder at short third man. However, Dube makes one of the easiest catches in the context of any game.

Noor Ahmed hits back with Ryan Rickelton’s huge wicket
Noor Ahmed’s comeback at the MA Chidambaram Stadium was a real highlight when he dismissed Ryan Rickelton in the first over after the powerplay. After the centurion from the previous game had a solid start to his innings, he was dismissed just when MI needed him most to accelerate in that middle phase of the innings.
Having been bowled, Rickelton was dismissed for 37 runs when Noor caught him bowling on his pads, and the left-hander missed while looking to clear the fence over the fielder at square leg.
Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run continues as he leaves after another good start
Suryakumar Yadav has been going through a very poor spell with the bat in this IPL season. The batter has averaged less than 20 runs this season and has struggled with the bat. Having come out to bat when the team was struggling with two early wickets, Surya played some good shots and got off to a promising start.
He batted at a good strike rate and played some good shots before being dismissed by an unfortunate delivery from Ramakrishna Ghosh, the debutant, when he found the only fielder offside. Mumbai plunged further into danger following the dismissal of the Indian captain.
