Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka did not seem in good spirits after his team suffered a crushing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 57th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between The two teams took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Lucknow Super Giants were on the receiving end of the 10-wicket hammering at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Not only would it have hurt their confidence, but it would have also affected their chances of qualifying for the playoffs, as a win today would surely have put them in a strong position.
The Lucknow Super Giants, who opted to bat first, did not have a great outing as they managed only 165 runs. They were reeling at 66/4 and it was Nicholas Pooran (48*) and Ayush Badoni (55*), who got them out of trouble and ensured that their team scored a respectable total of 165 on the board due to their unbeaten status. 99 race stand.
Lucknow Super Giants then failed to put pressure on Sunrisers Hyderabad with the ball. They couldn’t bowl to Abhishek Sharma (75*) and Travis Head (89*). The duo wreaked havoc on the opposition’s bowling line-up and chased down the target inside the overs, which speaks volumes about the chaos it was.
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL was completely lacking in confidence and was not helped by what seemed like a reprimand from team owner Sanjiv Goenka. He was seen chatting animatedly with the team captain and seemed to be unhappy with something.

If this was not enough, Sanjiv Goenka then criticized head coach Justin Langer. The owner of the franchise was dissatisfied with the Australian coach. KL Rahul was also present there but left after that.

I am speechless: KL Rahul after Lucknow Super Giants defeat
KL Rahul spoke about the defeat his team faced in the match against SRH. He admitted that he was left speechless by the way Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma batted against them. The LSG skipper also admitted that they were 40 to 50 runs short. In statements to the stations, he explained:
“I have no words. We have seen that kind of batting on TV. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Congratulations on their skills. They have worked hard on their six batting skills. They didn’t.” He didn’t give us a chance to find out what the pitching played in the second inning. “It was difficult to stop them when they came out from the first ball.”
