Faf du Plessis will be desperate to lead his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team to a much-needed victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday (April 25).

With just one win in eight games, RCB currently sit at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table. While their chances of advancing to the playoffs are extremely low, they are mathematically still alive in the competition. And for that to happen, they need to win the majority of their remaining league games.

The three-time finalists are currently on a six-match losing streak. In their last game, they suffered a painful one-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing 223 runs. With their playoff chances hanging by a thread, RCB will be desperate to get back to winning ways with a win against high-flying SRH.

And although the Bengaluru-based team has lost its last six matches, its captain Faf du Plessis seemed in good spirits before the start of the match against SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Just before the toss, the RCB captain was seen playing with the spider camera as he lay on the ground doing some stretching.

Speaking of the game, Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat first. The RCB captain praised his teammates for the style of cricket they have played in recent times and hoped that his team could achieve a good overall result.

“We are going to bat first. We feel like our fans are with us everywhere. These guys have been playing incredible cricket, hopefully we can put pressure on them on the scoreboard. We fought very hard in the last game. Same team,” said Faf du Plessis.

This is the second meeting between the two teams. During the first meeting, SRH posted a record total of 287/3 in 20 overs. In response, RCB put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short by 25 runs and finished with 262/7.
