Virat Kohli’s aggressive nature was in the fray during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Eden Gardens in Kolkata saw the fiercest nature of the Indian batsman.

Virat Kohli, who has been going through a rough patch in the ongoing IPL 2024, could not score much in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. It happened because of the controversial dismissal decision that was made against him in the second inning of the game.

Virat Kohli took a high delivery from Harshit Rana and from the looks of it, the ball seemed to be above his waist. The batsman was outside his crease and that made the umpire immediately raise his finger. The RCB opener later questioned the decision on the field as he insisted that it was a no-ball.

The third umpire, after reviewing the replays, concluded that the ball was sinking and, if the batsman had been in his area, it would have been below the waist. However, this did not go well with Virat Kohli as he was seen arguing with the umpire on the field.

He was furious with the referee’s decision and it was quite evident as he walked back to the pavilion. The batter continued to mutter something and even in the dugout he seemed surprised and was seen shaking his head, expressing his frustration.

However, this was not limited to just here as after the game, Virat Kohli was seen confronting the umpire near the stairs of the pavilion. The official was seen explaining something to the batsman, but he didn’t seem astonished either.

Amidst the entire saga, a new video has emerged in which Virat Kohli is seen expressing his frustration once again. During the post-match handshake ceremony, the batsman refused to shake the umpires’ hands and only patted him on the shoulder.

Here is the video:

Virat Kohli got 18 runs off just 7 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 257 and scored 1 four and 2 sixes in his innings. His wicket was the turning point as Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost the game. They were close to the goal but fell short by just 1 run to get their seventh loss of the season.

Virat Kohli was fined 50% of the match fee for violating the code of conduct

For his on-field antics, Virat Kohli was sanctioned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The batsman was fined 50% of his match fee. The Indian Premier League issued an official statement saying:

“Kohli committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted the infringement and accepted the match referee’s sanction. For Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the Match Referee is final and binding.”
