In a horrific incident at the West Indies national cricket championship match between Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, a day’s play was suspended because cows damaged a portion of the cricket field. Trinidad & Tobago Red Force were taking on Guyana Happy Eagles in a four-day match at the Conaree Sports Club in Conaree. However, the match was canceled on day 2 after cows arrived on the field during the night and also damaged most of the field and ground.
This is not the first time a cricket match has been affected for the strangest of reasons. An ODI match between India and New Zealand was disturbed due to sunlight. The light of the setting sun affected the batter’s vision. A test match between India and Sri Lanka in New Delhi was stopped due to poor air quality, while there were also incidents where the match did not take place due to malfunctioning floodlights.
Cows become the reason for the suspension of matches in the West Indies
The news reached the PCC headquarters that there will be no game between Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana today because the cows entered the field during the night and trampled part of the field 😭

During a test match between Bangladesh and South Africa, play was delayed for the second session of Day 2 due to delayed food for the visitors.
However, the most horrific incident took place in 1996. ODI World Cup semi-final match between India and Sri Lanka when the match was abandoned when the crowd at Eden Gardens began throwing bottles at the players on the ground. Considering the safety of the players, the match was canceled and Sri Lanka ended up winning the match.
Talking about the West Indies, they recently managed to level the two-match Test series 1-1 and defeated Australia in Brisbane. It was West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph who shone in the team’s victory and bagged a total of seven wickets in the second innings and was also the leading wicket-taker of the series.
Shamar Joseph also got the reward for his brilliant performance and was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the replacement draft for Pakistan Super League 2024. Shamar will also play for Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League 2024 as a replacement for Mark. Wood.
Shamar Joseph will get a lot of exposure in the IPL as he will play with some of the modern greats who will help him polish his skills.
In recent years, cricket in the West Indies has only declined as they failed to qualify for the main round of the 2023 ODI World Cup after losing in the qualifiers.
Players have shown more interest in playing in T20 leagues than in representing the national team to earn more money. However, with players like Shamar Joseph, West Indies can once again make an international comeback and also dominate world cricket like they used to do earlier during the 1970s and 1990s.
