Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has hit out at the fake post that claimed he wants the BCCI to drop Rohit Sharma from the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He claimed that armies of fans only care about opinions and that for them opinions are more important.
India recently named their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma will captain the team and it will be a great opportunity for him to lead the team to glory and end the fans’ anguish after a disappointing loss in the Cup. ICC World Cup 2023.
Rohit Sharma looked in good touch in the ongoing IPL 2024. He started the tournament quite well and also accumulated a century. However, since the 2024 T20 World Cup squad was named, the batsman failed to set the stage on fire and exited early.
With Rohit Sharma scoring low in his last innings, the post did the rounds on social media. The post said that Aakash Chopra had said that the Indian captain should not have been selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup because he was failing to score runs in the powerplay.
“Aakash Chopra said Rohit Sharma should not have been selected for the T20 World Cup. Now he is even failing in the powerplay,” a post on X claimed.
However, in response to this, Aakash Chopra lashed out at the armies of fans and stated that IPL is the best time to spread hate. While he called this garbage, he stated:
“The IPL is the best time to spread hate, fake news… and all kinds of rubbish. Armies of fans are there to always enjoy it. I often wonder if opinions and commitment are more important than morals,” Aakash Chopra posted on Twitter.

When the T20 World Cup was held, we missed a lot of T20Is: Rohit Sharma on missed T20Is
Rohit Sharma, who missed all the T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup, claimed that they discussed with the coaches that they wanted to focus on particular formats. He pointed out how they prioritized ODIs during the ICC World Cup 2023. He stated:
“When the T20 World Cup was held, we missed a lot of T20Is. Test cricket is a format that you don’t want to miss and give priority to. That’s what we discussed with the players and also with the coaches.
“Ajit came later. He doesn’t know what was discussed. Whatever format happens, we give priority to that format. As the 50 over World Cup was happening, we missed a lot of T20Is,” he concluded.
India will take on Ireland in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match will take place on June 5 and they would like to start on a high.
