Toss has been attracting attention for all the wrong reasons in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) and could become the talk of the town once again after Faf du Plessis’ latest act with the coin.
It all started when match referee Javagal Srinath picked up the coin from the ground without showing it to Faf du Plessis and Hardik Pandya during the match between Mumbai Indians and RCB last month. Pandya threw the coin behind his back before Srinath picked it up. The former India pacer did not let the captains see the result of the toss and simply announced the winner.
Faf du Plessis was later seen explaining the incident to Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins as IPL was in a huge controversy. Srinath was accused of favoring the Mumbai Indians for his act. And to avoid such controversies, broadcasters have started zooming in on the coin as soon as it hits the ground.
Faf du Plessis criticizes the broadcasters:
On Saturday, Faf du Plessis devised a wild act to inquire into the broadcaster’s measure to have more clarity in the draw. The former South Africa captain came up with the latest act of his during the toss of the match against the Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bengaluru.
When the coin landed on the field, the cameraman looked to zoom in. However, Faf du Plessis quickly picked up the coin and revealed the result on camera before walking away.

Meanwhile, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first. Having won their last two matches, RCB will be looking for another win to keep their playoff hopes alive. In their last game, they defeated GT by nine wickets and would look for another win.
