Team India’s second group, which will consist of Rajasthan Royals in Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal and roaming reserve Avesh Khan will travel on Sunday (May 26). All the Indian players who are part of the World Cup squad have been released from the IPL as their teams have been eliminated.
India will open their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5. They are placed in Group A, along with Ireland, the United States, Canada and arch-rival Pakistan. They will be eager to win the tournament as they have come close to the titles but have failed to capitalize on the big games, leading to them losing every ICC title since 2013.
India suffered heartbreak in the last ICC tournament, which took place in India. They lost the ICC World Cup 2023, but what broke many was that after playing the entire tournament as champions, they lost the final against Australia. They win 10 games in a row before losing the summit clash.
But the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 will be a great opportunity for the Indian team to come back and give their fans something to appreciate. Captain Rohit Sharma would be eager to clinch the trophy and lead from the front to help the team end the title drought.
