T20 World Cup 2024: Watch: Virat Kohli missing as Team India leaves for T20 WC 2024


The Indian national cricket team has regrouped after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they left for the T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be held in the United States of America (USA) and the Caribbean in June with the participation of 20 teams. for the first time.

The first group of the Indian team was seen leaving the Mumbai airport. The likes of captain Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Rahul Dravid and other coaching staff were seen exiting the team bus and entering the airport.

Team India’s second group, which will consist of Rajasthan Royals in Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal and roaming reserve Avesh Khan will travel on Sunday (May 26). All the Indian players who are part of the World Cup squad have been released from the IPL as their teams have been eliminated.

India will open their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5. They are placed in Group A, along with Ireland, the United States, Canada and arch-rival Pakistan. They will be eager to win the tournament as they have come close to the titles but have failed to capitalize on the big games, leading to them losing every ICC title since 2013.

India suffered heartbreak in the last ICC tournament, which took place in India. They lost the ICC World Cup 2023, but what broke many was that after playing the entire tournament as champions, they lost the final against Australia. They win 10 games in a row before losing the summit clash.

India schedule for the 2024 T20 World Cup

The Indian national cricket team will take on Ireland on June 5 in its first match of the tournament at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After that, they will face Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue.

After the clash with Pakistan, India will play the United States on June 12 in New York. The Men in Blue will then move their bases to Florida for their final league game. They will finish the group stage with a match against Canada on June 15. If India then qualifies for the Super 8 stage of the tournament, it will move to the Caribbean for that stage of the tournament.
