RCB all-rounder Tim David wrote his name in the record book

Meanwhile, when DC’s bowlers were performing significantly, Tim David claimed the top record. He is now one of the fastest players to complete 1,000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League. The Australian international is currently the second fastest batsman to reach the thousand run mark. He is only behind former Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder, now ‘power coach’, Andre Russell.

Russell needed 545 balls to reach the milestone, while the RCB star needed 560 balls to clinch the second place. Phil Salt, another RCB batsman, is fourth in the rankings. The English opener faced 575 balls to complete the same number of runs.

Bengaluru Atter struggled against Delhi Capitals bowlers

Talking about today’s batting part for Bengaluru, apart from Salt who scored 63 off 38, the other batsmen in the lineup faced a challenging afternoon. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel brought down Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s run rate. Tim David’s hit was shocking but short-lived.

He came into the middle as a star batsman and secured 26 runs off 17 balls with three 4s and a 6. Batting first, RCB secured 175 runs, a competitive total, in return for 8 wickets. Yadav, Patal and South African pacer Lungi Ngidi bagged a brace each.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs DC Innings Progression:

Overs 1-6: 59/1 (RR: 9.83)

Overs 7-15: 87/3 (RR: 9.66)

Overs 16-20: 29/4 (RR: 5.80)

From the progression of the innings, it is clear that Bengaluru started batting at a rapid pace. Later, his execution rate gradually decreased. With a run rate of 9.83 to 5.80, the DC players have certainly done a brilliant job.

“Yes, I’ve committed to giving it a lot more airtime and obviously putting a lot more revs on it. I saw earlier that they increased the arm speeds on the board. And I was happy to see that because that’s exactly what I’m trying to do. No change in the action, no change in my arm speed, just a different trajectory and obviously bringing the reps down,” DC pacer Lungi Ngidi said of his improvisation.
