MS Dhoni and Tim Southee

New Zealand national cricket team captain Tim Southee has expressed his desire to swap lives with former Indian national cricket team captain MS Dhoni. He said he wanted to see what life would be like if he were the Chennai Super Kings player.

Dhoni is arguably one of the biggest names in the world of cricket. The former captain of the Indian national cricket team is the most successful captain in the history of Indian cricket. Under his leadership, the team won all the ICC tournaments associated with the white ball and also performed well in Tests.

For what he has done for Indian cricket, Dhoni is highly respected in the country. Not just in the country, but the wicketkeeper-batsman is the biggest draw for the audiences around the world. Wherever he goes, chants of ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ can be heard everywhere.

Dhoni is much admired in India and the legacy he has left behind is unmatched. The aura he possesses is sensational and it is evident when he walks out to bat in the Indian Premier League. No matter where he plays, everyone in the stands cheers for him and chants his name.

Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020. But even after that, he remains one of the biggest celebrities in the country. The wicketkeeper-batsman despite being out of form has been playing for the fans and even at 40, he is still one of the cleanest attackers of the ball in the game.

MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli? Tim Southee names the Indian star he would like to swap lives with

During the 2024 CEAT Cricket Awards, New Zealand cricketer Tim Southee was asked to name a cricketer he would like to swap his life with for a day. The fast bowler came up with the name MS Dhoni, expressing his desire to see what it feels like to be one of the most loved cricketers globally.

“Question: If you could swap your life with any other cricketer for a day, who would it be and why?

Tim Southee said: “MS Dhoni, I just wanted to see what life would be like as MS Dhoni.”

For the past few months, there has been a lot of speculation about Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League. The wicketkeeper-batsman is in the last phase of his career and there has even been speculation that the wicketkeeper-batsman has already played his last season as a player in the league.

This was because after the 2023 edition, MS Dhoni had said that he would play one more season in the league. He also decided to hand over the captaincy of the team to youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, there have been some reports that claimed that his future in the league will depend on the guidelines related to auctions and RTMs.

It has been learnt that MS Dhoni might play in IPL 2025 as an uncapped player. This is because the BCCI is considering re-introducing the old rule that allows players to remain in the uncapped category. The retention policy, along with the uncapped category rule, will be announced shortly before the IPL 2025 mega auction.
