Let’s take a look at the top five foreign goalkeepers picked in the IPL 2025 auction.

Gujarat Titans bought Jos Buttler for INR 15.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, following his release from Rajasthan Royals. The captain of the England white team, who had been at RR since 2018, became the highest-paid foreign player at the auction.
Buttler will play a key role for Gujarat, not only as a top-order batsman but also as the team’s wicketkeeper. He will likely open the innings alongside Shubman Gill, bringing his wealth of experience to bolster the team’s batting strength for the 2025 season.
Phil Salt
RCB acquired Phil Salt for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, following his release from KKR. He played a key role in KKR’s IPL 2024 title win, amassing 435 runs in 12 matches. Salt’s form has made him a top pick for RCB, where he is likely to be one of the top overseas options.
In the 2025 season, Salt is expected to open the batting alongside Virat Kohli and take up wicketkeeping duties. His aggressive batting style should suit the Chinnaswamy pitch, known for its small boundaries, allowing him to offer explosive openings and lay a solid foundation for RCB’s innings.
Devon Conway
CSK brought back Devon Conway for INR 6.25 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after he was released ahead of the auction. The New Zealand batsman, who has already made an impact at the top of the order for CSK, is likely to take on more responsibilities this season. With MS Dhoni as the main goalkeeper, Conway could step in as a backup goalkeeper.
Conway’s strong track record in IPL and his ability to stabilize or accelerate an innings make him an automatic pick. His return adds more depth to CSK’s top squad, providing captain Ruturaj Gaikwad more freedom to play his natural game.

Quinton De Kock
Kolkata Knight Riders secured Quinton De Kock for INR 3.60 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, following a bidding war with SRH and MI, with KKR emerging as the winning bidder.
Released by LSG ahead of the auction, de Kock is known for his explosive starts at the top of the order and his excellent wicket-keeping skills. This makes him a valuable addition to KKR at a competitive price, and he is likely to be in the XI ahead of Gurbaz.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz
KKR brought back Rahmanullah Gurbaz for INR 2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after releasing him ahead of the event. Last season, Gurbaz had few opportunities and played primarily during the playoffs when Phil Salt was unavailable.
With Salt now at RCB and KKR also signing Quinton de Kock, Gurbaz may have to wait for his chance again. However, his ability to play aggressive shots, especially with fielding restrictions in the first six overs, gives him a good chance to make an impact when given the opportunity.
