Former India Batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has shared his views on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma future in T20 cricket. Many believe that both batsmen’s days in the shortest format of the game are numbered.

In January this year, they were called up to the T20 squad after a gap of over a year. Both batsmen had last played in the 2022 T20 World Cup and did not play a single T20I in 2023. The way things unfolded in 2023, it seemed highly likely that neither of them would play any T20I again. However, both starred with the bat in the 2023 ODI World Cup and were called up for the three-match home series against Afghanistan in January.

With Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli’s T20 future being the talk of the town, Navjot Singh Sidhu was recently asked about the same. In response, the former batsman stated that both batsmen will be needed when India participates in the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled for the United States and the West Indies.

“They will be needed there. These are giants of the cricket world. The form is like the morning dew, it may elude you, but the class of these people has the stamp of authority.” PTI quoted Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Furthermore, Navjot Singh Sidhu praised Virat Kohli as the best Indian batsman for the way he has maintained his fitness. He also praised both Kohli and Rohit for the way they adapt to all three formats of the game.

“I would rate Kohli as the best Indian batsman for the simple reason that he is fit, he is getting fit with age like old wine does. Technically he is very sound and has the amazing ability to adapt to all three formats, same goes for Rohit.” said Navjot Singh Sidhu.

“They are both quality players. I am not sure about Rohit’s fitness level. With age you tend to slow down, your reflexes tend to disappear. Sehwag with those glasses, his reflections were not the same, I saw it in the IPL.” he added.

Before playing the T20 World Cup, both Rohit and Kohli will play in the IPL. While Kohli will play for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rohit will ply his trade for Mumbai Indians.
