Tournament catch? Phil Salt takes a magnificent catch to dismiss Rishabh Pant in RCB vs LSG clash

RCB batsman Phil Salt took a stunning catch to dismiss Rishabh Pant after the LSG captain came back to rescue his team from a difficult situation in the death overs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers have been doing a very good job as they have bowled effectively against some of the strongest batting teams in the tournament. Credit goes to the experience of the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya, combined with the immense control and precision of the likes of youngsters Suyash and Rasikh Dar.

However, what has helped these bowlers in the RCB camp is their fielders. RCB, unlike other teams, have produced some of the most extraordinary records on the field as they have not tended to drop many catches that went up and have also stopped runs on the field.

Phil Salt dismissed Rishabh Pant with a stupendous effort in the field

RCB have been on top of their game with their defenders diligently backing their bowlers. Phil Salt has been one of the impressive names. on the field for the Challengers and has stood out as one of their key deep defenders.

Phil Salt had made an impressive catch earlier against the Sunrisers, dismissing captain Ishan Kishan in the first game at this very venue. He has done it again in the same venue, dismissing the captain of another franchise in the Lucknow Super Giants.

When Rishabh Pant returned to the field, he swept a ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar that headed towards a gap between deep mid-wicket and the square leg fielder, but Phil Salt covered a lot of ground and took a strong catch by diving forward. Pant had to leave without disturbing the scorers much.

Tim David adds to the tally of good fielding

Australian big man Tim David also took another excellent bowling catch off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, helping him pick his second wicket of the match. Bhuvneshwar has been accurate and surprisingly precise with his length in the death overs, but he hasn’t always been lucky with wickets.

However, not this time as George Linde, the new batsman at the crease, drove one towards the backward point region. Tim David was placed inside the 30-yard circle, but as the ball rose, David had time to get under the ball.

The big Australian covered a remarkable amount of ground without losing sight of the ball. He then caught it quite close to the boundary ropes as he ran back and adjusted nicely to keep the ball in play.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Mohammed Shami with a toe-crushing yorker

There was no stopping the RCB pacer once he got his two wickets after some impressive support from the RCB fielders. He has been very good with his yorkers in the death overs this season of the competition.

Bhuvneshwar, despite his poor pace, has bowled the best yorkers in this edition of the IPL. He bowled one right into the hole and Mohammad Shami, the new batsman, failed to bring the bat down at the right time. It was clean from the first ball.

Having posted a timid target of 147 runs, Phil Salt will be up and running when he comes out to open the innings for the Royal Challengers. Credit to pacers RCB for restricting LSG to such a small score.
