It is a great honor to be recognized with the award – Travis Head

Travis Head expressed his gratitude after winning the prestigious ICC award. He recognized the team’s collective effort, emphasizing that the recognition is the same for his teammates as it is for him.

“It is a great honor to receive this award, but it is a team effort. Without my teammates in all formats this would not have happened; So these types of awards are as much for them as they are for me,” Head told the ICC.

The 29-year-old contributed with bat and ball in the semi-final, taking crucial wickets from Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen. He played a knock of 137 to win the match and took a remarkable catch behind Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

Fortunately, they kept faith in me – Travis Head

Travis Head expressed his joy at being part of Australia’s incredible 12-month journey and credited the team, captain Pat Cummins and staff for successfully overcoming several challenges.

“It has been an incredible 12 months for the team and it has been a real privilege to be part of. “The way we have got through a summer at home, trips to India, England, South Africa, India and the World Cup has been a huge credit to Pat (Cummins, the Australian captain), the players and the staff,” Head added.

“I was lucky that they kept faith in me for the World Cup after breaking my hand, so it was a great opportunity for me to pay them back. I felt like the World Cup was among the best I’ve ever had, so maybe resting before each campaign is the key,” he concluded.

Travis Head suffered a hand injury against South Africa before the World Cup and missed the team’s first games. However, he returned successfully and played a vital role in the team’s success in the tournament.
