Steven Taylor, on Thursday (June 6), took one of the catches of the tournament to send back Mohammad Rizwan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 clash between the United States and Pakistan at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

United States captain Monank Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first and it didn’t take him long to get the reward for his decision. Mohammad Rizwan started the proceedings on a good note as he opened the account by hitting Nosthush Kenjige for a six in the first over.

However, he couldn’t hold on for long as Saurabh Netravalkar sent him back in the second over. Credit for the dismissal should also go to Steven Taylor for making an absolute mistake at first slip. It was a good length delivery from the left-arm pacer and the delivery went wide at the last moment.

Rizwan ended up taking the ball towards first slip. The ball was dying on the slip fielder and it looked like Rizwan would get a reprieve. However, Taylor came up with an absolute blinder and he caught the ball just inches off the ground as he dove to his right to give his team a breakthrough.

Look at Steven Taylor’s capture:

Talking about the game, Pakistan were reeling at 26 for 3 in the fifth over at the time of writing this report. After Rizwan’s departure. Nosthush Kenjige dismissed Usman Khan for just 3 before Ali Khan dismissed the dangerous Fakhar Zaman for 11 to put the United States in the driving seat.

The United States has the momentum and they will seek to make the most of it. The co-hosts began their campaign with a resounding victory over Canada last week and will look to register their second consecutive victory to bolster their chances of advancing to the group stage.
