Virat Kohli has started their campaign in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a brilliant note. The right-handed hitter failed to bat in the first game, but quickly recovered.

In the first game against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings, the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain was out for 21 off 20 balls and his team lost the contest by six wickets. However, he bounced back in the next game by playing a match-winning knock against Punjab Kings.

The former India captain scored 77 off 49 balls to lead RCB’s charge with the bat after other big names like Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell failed to get going. He followed it up with another good knock in the third game against Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, although RCB ended up losing the game by seven wickets.

Virat Kohli creates history:

After the promising start to the season, Virat Kohli will look to make the most of the momentum. While only time will tell how things will unfold in the coming days for the star batsman, he has currently added another feather to his already illustrious cap.

Virat Kohli, on Tuesday (April 2), became the first Indian cricketer to play 100 T20 matches at a single venue. He achieved the feat during the match between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The iconic stadium has been the IPL’s home since 2008, the competition’s inaugural season. He is the only cricketer in IPL history to have played for the same franchise since 2008. While MS Dhoni has been playing for Chennai Super Kings since the first season of IPL, he had to play two seasons for Rising Pune Supergiant when The Chennai-based team was suspended.

Virat Kohli also holds the record of scoring the most T20 runs at a single venue. He has scored 3276 runs in T20 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. After Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma is second on the list for playing the most T20s at a single venue by an Indian. Rohit has played 80 matches at the Wankhede stadium.
