Virat Kohli prepares his squad as RCB prepares for a new mantra in IPL 2025

RCB will once again hope to break the curse and win their first IPL title.

Former team captain Virat Kohli will once again be among the most crucial players in the RCB lineup as the franchise aims to break the jinx and win its first Indian Premier League (IPL) title.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season (IPL 2025), RCB team manager Mo Bobat revealed in a chat with ESPNCricinfo that Kohli is expected to have a slightly revamped mantra.

While Kohli has mainly played anchor and batted deep over the years for RCB, last year the dynamic right-hander opted for an aggressive approach early in the powerplay.

Furthermore, to help Kohli and strengthen their attacking arsenal, RCB secured powerful batsmen like Phil Salt and Tim David during last month’s IPL 2025 auction.

With these new signings, the RCB think tank wants Kohli to continue his attacking intent with the motto of ‘making the most of every delivery’.

Bobat said: “I certainly won’t, and Andy certainly won’t, sending the team with someone with the intention of dropping anchor. That is not what is required. We want to make the most of each delivery. The players can be trusted to assess the situation, the existing conditions, and Virat will be no different from the others.

RCB’s opening pair in the upcoming season is expected to be Kohli and Salt and both the players looked in excellent form last season.

Kohli gave a testament to his great prowess even after changing his batting squad last season, finishing as the Orange Cap winner with a stellar 741 runs at an average of 61.75. On the other hand, Salt amassed 435 runs and struck at a blistering rate of 182.
