Former Australian cricketer and current broadcaster Kerry O’Keefe has apologized to Virat Kohli after calling him “arrogant” on the first day of the Boxing Day Test. Following yesterday’s incident with Sam Konstas, Kerry, who was on air, said that Kohli’s career is built on arrogance.

“Kohli has built his entire career on arrogance. Suddenly, he identified that in a debutant and seemed to resent it,” he exclaimed.

However, he realized his mistake and took back his words while apologizing to Virat Kohli during a commentary today. Calling Kohli a “passionate cricketer”, Kerry said it probably bothered him to see Konstas with similar arrogance.

“I want to apologize for calling Virat Kohli’s behavior arrogance. I shouldn’t have said that. He has arrogance and plays cricket like that. I think when he saw another player showing arrogance like him, he got a little upset and reacted that way. “Kohli is a passionate cricketer and his aggression is what makes him a competitive cricketer.”

After Australia piled up 474 in the first innings, India didn’t get off to the brightest of starts as they lost Rohit Sharma in just the second over. Soon, KL Rahul too left after looking good due to an unplayable delivery from Pat Cummins.

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli formed a vital century stand for the third wicket, and Kohli looked really good during his stay in the middle. He kept shots off the baseline and didn’t try to overshoot, which helped him find his rhythm and play close to his body.

However, an unfortunate delivery by Yashasvi Jaiswal broke his concentration and Kohli fell into the trap when Australia caught him again bowling outside the boundary. Should have made it a great result because the track didn’t have enough demons for the Australian bowlers.

Regardless, this inning would give him some confidence after looking listless in the last two games. He should take advantage of this and build on the momentum in the next innings.
