Virat Kohli’s daylight gap with Babar Azam fell hard for Pakistan legend

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mudassar Nazar has drawn comparisons between today’s big batsmen Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. Mudassar Nazar said Virat Kohli will be remembered as one of the greatest players of the sport, but Babar Azam is yet to make a name for himself.

Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are considered two of the best batsmen of the current era. Both stars have openly shared their admiration for each other on several occasions. The discussion about the comparison between their careers has captivated fans, especially since they come from cricket-loving countries.

There is a huge difference between the two players – Mudassar Nazar

Speaking to news agency PTI, Mudassar Nazar said that fans often compare Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, but there is a big difference between the two players. Mudassar said Kohli is one of the best to ever play the game and his achievements set him apart from Babar.

“I mean, there is a huge difference between the two players. Virat will be remembered as one of the greatest to have graced the game. Babar is yet to make a name for himself,” Mudassar told PTI.

Virat Kohli’s cricket career has been extraordinary since his debut in 2008. He has transformed the game with his consistency, determination and ability to thrive under pressure. He became the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs during India’s 2-0 Test series win against Bangladesh.

On the other hand, Babar Azam made his debut for Pakistan in 2015. The right-handed batsman has been struggling for results across three formats for over a year. He recently resigned from the Pakistan white-ball captaincy. Babar has delivered outstanding performances, but not with Kohli’s legacy.

I love watching Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – Mudassar Nazar

The 68-year-old also expressed his admiration for Indian captain Rohit Sharma and stated that he likes watching him. Mudassar highlighted that Sharma and Kohli’s best performances are a pleasure to witness, making it easy to spend hours in front of the TV just watching them play.

“I love watching Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. When they are at their best and playing well, it is fantastic to watch. You could sit in front of the TV for hours and just watch them play,” Mudassar added.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played key roles in India’s victory at the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit was the team’s top scorer in the tournament, amassing 257 runs in eight innings. Kohli scored 76 runs off 59 balls in the final match. The duo announced their retirement from T20Is after the final victory.

We should have given him a longer deadline – Mudassar Nazar

The former Pakistan head coach criticized the current state of the Pakistan cricket team after Babar Azam’s resignation as white-ball captain. Mudassar argued for stability saying the new captain should be given a longer tenure rather than being replaced immediately.

“It (the friction between Babar and Shaheen) is our fault. We should not have altered the setup,” Mudassar said.

“There was a permanent captain, we should have given him a longer tenure and if someone else had been made captain then he should have given it a decent try. And not been kicked out straight away.”
