Since the last few years, MS Dhoni has consistently proven that age is just a number and he did so once again on Tuesday (March 26) when Chennai Super Kings took on Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the seventh match of the IPL ongoing 2024.
The former Indian captain took a superb diving catch to dismiss Vijay Shankar and put CSK in the driving seat. On the third ball of the eighth over, Daryl Mitchell bowled a full toss around off stump. Vijay Shankar decided to take a turn almost without moving his foot and paid the price for it.
The all-rounder GT failed to make good contact with the ball and ended up finishing the ball behind the stumps. At first, it looked like the ball would fly past MS Dhoni. The former CSK captain, however, had other ideas. The 42-year-old made an impressive leap to his right and caught the ball with both hands while he was in the air. The entire stadium erupted with joy after the catch as MS Dhoni was mobbed by his smiling teammates.

MS Dhoni is yet to bat in IPL 2024 but his latest feat behind the stumps is enough to make his fans smile. The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman gave a big surprise just before the start of the ongoing competition by resigning as captain of the team. The World Cup-winning captain decided to hand over the reins of the team to opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad.
This is the second time that MS Dhoni has stepped down as CSK captain. He also did the same in 2022 and Ravindra Jadeja took charge of the team on that occasion. However, on that occasion the move did not give the desired result, as Jadeja stopped being captain after just eight matches and MS Dhoni had to take charge of the team again.
Dhoni and CSK hope the move works this time and Gaikwad takes the franchise to a good position in his first season as captain.
