Watch: Babar Azam drops Dolly ‘intentionally’ and laughs heartily in PAK vs BAN first test

Pakistan national cricket team batsman Babar Azam is not having a great game in the ongoing Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team. The first match of the two-match Test series between the teams is being held at the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Babar Azam has been going through a tough time in the game. The right-hander first caught a duck in the game and after that he was not at his best on the field. The Pakistan player dropped a simple catch during Bangladesh’s innings in the first innings which cost his team a bit in the game.

On the fourth ball of the 142nd over, Agha Salman bowled a ball that had a turn and a bounce to it. Mushfiqur Rahim pushed it towards Azam at leg slip and the Pakistan National Cricket batsman blew it as he was slow to react to the catch.

The ball hit Babar on the wrist as he lunged forward and dropped the ball easily. Some fans even claimed that the former Pakistan captain dropped the ball intentionally.

Here is the video:

At that time, Mushfiqur Rahim was batting at 150 and after that, he added 41 more runs for the team. Babar’s fall not only cost Agha Salman the wicket but also made the team concede a lead of over 100 runs in the first innings, ending with a total lead of 117 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim played a magnificent hand for his team and put them in a strong position. The wicketkeeper-batsman finished with an innings of 191 runs off 341 balls. He also hit 22 fours and 1 six in his innings and ensured that Bangladesh crossed the 500-run mark on the board.

After Mushfiqur Rahim walked off the field, Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored a vital half-century and ended the innings with a 77-run stand. His vital hand at the bottom of the order helped the Bangladesh National Cricket Team get on top of the game and take a healthy lead in the first innings.

Babar Azam to play key role for Pakistan in Test series

Babar Azam will be crucial for his team in the ongoing second innings. Pakistan lost Saim Ayub early and are still trailing the Bangladesh National Cricket Team by 94 runs. With just one day left in the game, they need to first end Bangladesh’s lead and then score a target to have a chance of winning.

Babar Azam will be key for the team not only in the second innings but also in the upcoming match. The second match of the series between the teams will be played at the same venue from August 30. It was earlier scheduled to be held in Karachi but was shifted due to the construction mode.

Babar Azam has not registered a single fifty in the longest format of the game since 2022. In the 10 innings he played last year, he scored just 204 runs and also failed miserably in the Test series against Australia.
