Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women Georgia Wareham made one of the best saves in the history of the First women’s division (WPL). The seventh match of the second edition of the tournament will be played between RCB and Delhi Capitals Women at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Georgia Wareham stole the limelight in the first innings of the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals women were asked to bat first and Shafali Verma led his team to a cheerful start. He played crisp shots in his innings and looked set for a big innings.

During the third ball of the eleventh over, Shafali Verma played an aggressive shot as he bowled De Klerk’s ball high and wide of mid-wicket. The ball sailed over the ropes and it was certain that there would be another six.

But Georgia Wareham had other plans and made sure to save runs for her team. She made a Superman effort as she jumped and caught with her left hand. But she couldn’t hold it and she threw the ball back into the game and it landed beyond the ropes.

Georgia Wareham’s effort in the field surely made Shafali Verma think a lot and also changed the momentum of the match. The Delhi Capitals batsman, after a few balls, also came out and was caught by Georgia, who was elated with the wicket.

Shreyanka Patil bowled a short ball that was quicker. Shafali Verma stayed on the front foot as he tried to shoot. He hit it flat and hard, downward. Georgia Wareham came running in from midfield to swallow the ball and give her team some timely ground.

Shafali Verma played a magnificent innings for his team on top. He scored 50 runs off 31 balls and also hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. Apart from her, Alice Capsey (46) also contributed and the duo added 82 runs for the second wicket.

Marizanne Kapp (32 off 16) and Jess Jonassen (36* off 16) then brutal innings at the end that ensured Delhi Capitals finished with a big total on the board. The visitors recorded a total of 194 runs on the board. Sophie Devine was the pick of the RCB bowlers with her figures of 2/23.

When Georgia Wareham produced a magnificent effort on the boundary ropes, it reminded fans of AB de Villiers’ special catch off M Chinnaswamy. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman pulled off an impressive catch during IPL 2018.

During the match against SRH, Alex Hales hit a lofted shot off Moeen Ali. It was certain that the ball would go for a six. But the batsman took a big leap before grabbing the ball from the sky with his right hand. The surprising thing was that he managed to maintain his balance.
