Watch: Jaydev Unadkat launches an incredible yorker to destroy Adam Lyth’s stumps in the County Championship

Indian national cricket team fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat ensured that the ongoing County Championship was a success. The fast bowler made his presence felt for Sussex in the match against Yorkshire, which is being held at the North Marine Road Ground in Scarborough.

Jaydev Unadkat was the first to draw blood for his team after his side was bowled out for just 189 runs. The left-handed bowler took the new ball along with Ollie Robinson and made sure to put the opposition in a bind. He bowled impeccable lines and lengths and made the batsmen dance to his tune.

Jaydev Unadkat put in a sensational effort with the ball and it resulted in the wicket of Adam Lyth. The Saurashtra player played a sensational yorker that surprised the batsman and then smashed his stumps. He did not expect the player to do this.

Jaydev Unadkat then removed the other opener Finlay Bean for just 3 runs. The fast bowler seemed to be in good touch with the new ball and helped his team get on top with the new ball. In the first 17 overs he bowled, he gave away just 41 runs and took two wickets.

This is Unadkat’s second appearance in the County Championship for Sussex. He played 4 matches in his first appearance and took 11 wickets. His best performance came against Leicestershire, when he took 6/94 in the second innings as Sussex won by 15 runs.

Jaydev Unadkat joined Sussex after he was overlooked by the BCCI selectors for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. The pacer, despite being one of the best players in the domestic circuit, was not named in any of the four squads for the tournament, which is set to begin from September 5.

Unadkat, who is the captain of Saurashtra in Indian domestic cricket, has been a veteran of the team. The left-arm fast bowler has played 114 first-class matches and 403 selected wickets at an average of around 23.34. He has also taken 23 five-wicket catches in his career.

The Saurashtra player has also played four Test matches for the Indian national cricket team. After making his debut on 16 December 2010, and after being sidelined, he played the second Test match 12 later and missed 118 Test matches in between, which is the highest for an Indian and the second highest in world cricket.

Unadkat has taken 3 wickets in the four games. His last appearance for the national team was in the second Test against the West Indies National Cricket Team in July 2023. Since then, he has been out of the Indian team and has been playing in the domestic circuit.
