Venkatesh Iyer was at the peak of his happiness after winning the IPL 2024 title with Kolkata Knight Riders. During the post-match celebrations, he praised Mitchell Starc for his contribution to the team.
However, Venkatesh Iyer also said that Starc’s wife Alyssa Healy is his favorite Australian player. Alyssa Healy and Mitchell Starc are married and both play cricket in Australia.
Great to play with legends like him: Venkatesh Iyer
IPL shared a video in which Venkatesh Iyer and Mitchell Starc showed their happiness on winning the title. During the talk, the left-handed batsman also said that it was great to share the stage with legends like Starc.
“Also, this is a platform where youngsters like us grab the opportunity to play with international legends like him and it’s great to play a tournament like the IPL and winning it makes it more special,” he said.
Venkatesh Iyer and Mitchell Starc showed their happiness on winning the title. Notably, Starc took crucial wickets early in both Qualifier 1 and the final match. He helped KKR show a strong bowling attack early on.
He was expensive in the first few games, but then he rose to the top. Starc finished with 17 wickets in 17 games at an average of 26.12. In the final he also won the Man of the Match award.

Alyssa Healy is my favorite Australian player
During the chat, he also added that Alyssa Healy is his favorite Australian player. He also added that it is good to have family and friends around on the big occasion. Healy was in India with Starc but she had to return before the final.
“Alyssa. [Healy] He’s my favorite Aussie at the moment. Not Mitchell Starc, he’s number two. It’s good to have your family around, especially on such an important occasion. Unfortunately, Alyssa had to leave, but we spoke to her before the game and she conveyed her wishes to us,” he further said.
KKR defeated SRH like a walk in the park
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders took an easy win in the final of IPL 2024. They crushed SRH by 8 wickets after bowling them out for just 113 in the first innings. Later, they chased him by wide margins.
Notably, Venkatesh Iyer and Mitchell Starc were the two best players in the playoffs. While Starc got the team’s early pace while bowling, Iyer scored half-centuries in both playoff games to help the team in batting.
Interestingly, Phil Salt was a dominant opener for KKR in the league stage and also left the team before the playoffs.
With their breakup with Sunil Narine-Phil Salt as their initial pairing, there was little doubt whether KKR would make similar beginnings with new pairings. However, Venky ensured a good start for the team in both the matches.
