Mushfiqur Rahim trolls Angelo Mathews with broken helmet celebration

Mushfiqur Rahim played a vital role in Bangladesh winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He played a brave knock for his team in the series decider and made sure to take his team beyond the finish line as they struggled to advance against the rival.

Chasing 236 runs, Bangladesh lost some early wickets and struggled in the middle phase. However, the arrival of Mushfiqur Rahim in the box brought a sense of calm to the team as he held one end and made sure not to let the play drift away from the team.

Mushfiqur Rahim came to bat when Bangladesh were struggling at 130/5. However, he stood his ground against his team and calmly progressed through the innings. The senior batsman played a vital hand and led his team to win the series. He looked rock solid while others around him played attacking cricket.

Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 37 runs off 36 balls. He hit three fours and a six in his innings. He played the winning shot as Bangladesh won the game with 4 wickets in hand and sealed the series by a margin of 2-1, having lost the T20I series early.

While his knock was applauded by many, he stole the show with his antics during the trophy celebration. While the entire team was waiting for captain Najmul Hossain Shanto to get the trophy, Mushfiqur Rahim appeared with his helmet.

The wicketkeeper-batsman broke the strap of his helmet and replicated Angelo Matthews’ gestures when he became furious after Bangladesh called a timeout. Mushfiqur Rahim with his gestures left the entire team divided.

“They showed the time-out gesture, right? They haven’t gotten over the wait time incident. I think they should get out of this. They should stay in the present. We were within the rules [with the timed-out dismissal]. They are frantic about it. “I’m not too worried about that.”

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will now face each other in the two test match series starting later this week. The way things have developed between the teams, the upcoming series promises to be exciting.
