The Ambanis recently congratulated the Mumbai Indians players who were part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup. The Indian team won the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa in the final last week.

The Rohit Sharma-led side beat the Proteas by 7 runs as India won the T20 World Cup after a long gap of 17 years. The win also ended India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. After the win in Barbados, the Indian team landed in the country on Thursday (July 4) and the celebrations have continued ever since.

The Indian team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital before taking part in the victory parade in Mumbai where they were given a warm welcome by thousands of fans. After the party and celebration in Mumbai, the players were also given a warm welcome in their respective home cities.

On Friday, the Ambanis decided to honour the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya during the sangeet festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Nita Ambani called the three players one by one on stage and ended up getting emotional.

She first called Rohit Sharma on stage and when the Indian batting stalwart hugged the Mumbai Indians owner, she was visibly emotional and fought back tears.

“It’s not enough to shout, it’s not enough to scream, it’s not enough to applaud,” he said before also calling out the other two players.

In the case of Pandya, Mrs Ambani said: “We have discovered a teenager. The person who made everyone lose their breath in the last over. He proves one thing: tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

Earlier this year during the IPL, the Ambanis also faced a backlash after Rohit Sharma was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. Pandya, on the other hand, had gone through a terrible time during the IPL as he was booed by fans throughout the season.

However, the Indian star has managed to win over the fans with his performance in the World Cup and will be hoping to do well in the upcoming IPL as well.
