Ravi Shastri reveals India’s standout moments at T20 World Cup 2024

With its eyes set on the ultimate prize, India’s relentless pursuit of glory promises fireworks in the semi-final clash against England on June 27 in Guyana. Meanwhile, former head coach and commentator Ravi Shastri revealed the Men in Blue’s best moments in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 so far in a video shared by the ICC on Instagram.

Ravi Shastri said in the video, “It’s been an amazing campaign for India but these are my highlights. They have a lot to choose from but these are just a few. Rishabh Pant with that backhand for six. In the game against Ireland, he set the tone. You know, it just shows the exuberance of youth and the x-factor that he brings to this Indian cricket team. What a shot to end the game!”

The former Indian captain continued: “Jasprit Bumrah is proving why he is the best in this business. Because the greats take wickets when necessary. He is the man India turns to when needed. That was just what the doctor needed. You go into the attack, take a wicket and hit. That is what he did against Pakistan by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan.”

India had Ashdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj, and they picked Ashdeep Singh, and there is a reason. Because with the new ball, he can swing. He leans it towards rights and has the ability to hit. Like he did in that game against the United States.”

Ravi Shastri greets Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.

Shastri praised India’s middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and hailed him as a “360-degree player”. The former Indian all-rounder mentioned that people often look for the shots he plays from behind, but when he hits the ground and then poses for the camera, it is a wonderful sight to watch.

The former Indian coach also praised star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, saying that when he is in top form, he is one of the best in the business. Shastri added: “He is one of the best all-rounders because he has a smart brain for cricket. He adapts to the conditions. He adapts to what the team needs and plays accordingly. And that innings against Bangladesh proved it all. It was a controlled tackle, but he showed how explosive he can be.”

Shastri also picked Sharma’s knock on Mitchell Starc for 29 in an over in the Super-8 clash as one of the best moments of the tournament. He said the audacity and ease with which Rohit played some of those shots in the match was mind-blowing and special.

In the end, the commentator picked Axar Patel’s chosen catch to dismiss Mitchell Marsh from the same game. Shastri said that he was supposed to be out but Axar brilliantly caught him out of nowhere, saying that it was superb stuff from the Indian all-rounder.
