Rohit Sharma

India captain Rohit Sharma was seen playing a sensational overhead straight shot during a recent Mumbai Indians net session ahead of the franchise’s fifth IPL 2024 league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rohit has been in sensational form in this edition and has shown his striking power very well in the first 4 matches, barring the clash against Rajasthan Royals, where he left for a golden duck. The opening batsman will also be looking for his first half-century of the season later tonight.

In Mumbai’s previous league match against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma was batting at his most destructive.

He started hitting the DC players from the 1 ball as he tried to bury the ghost of the previous match against Rajasthan Royals.

Rohit didn’t want to go out for another duck and that’s why his agenda was just to see the ball and hit it. And so he did it. His aggressive start saw him maintain an overwhelming strike rate of 181.

Rohit Sharma’s batting was such that it pushed DC back and Rishabh Pant was forced to introduce left-arm bowler Axar Patel. The DC all-rounder, after being hit by a few boundaries, responded very well by denying Hitman scoring his first half-century of IPL 2024 by just one run.

Axar played a fantastic arm shot that went straight to the stumps after pitching outside through Axar’s delivery angle. MI were 80/1 when Rohit Sharma received his marching orders in 49 runs off 27 balls and smashed 6 fours and 3 sixes in the process.

Rohit Sharma to play his 248th IPL match tonight

When Rohit Sharma steps out to the Wankhede Stadium for the 25th match of IPL 2024 against RCB, he will be playing the 248th match of his IPL career.

He is currently the second-most capped cricketer in the history of the Indian Premier League along with his former India teammate Dinesh Karthik, who will also share the same stage as Rohit as he plays his 248th IPL match.

Karthik has achieved this feat representing franchises like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Gujarat (Lions), Bengaluru and Punjab.

Rohit Sharma has done this while playing for only two franchises: Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers, where he played between 2008 and 2011.

The 36-year-old will play his historic 250th IPL match when MI travel to Mullanpur for a clash against Punjab Kings on Thursday, April 18, which is the 33rd match of IPL 2024.

Tonight’s match between MI and RCB becomes even more special as there will be several clashes.

Virat Kohli will face Jasprit Bumrah, Faf du Plessis will face Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma will face Mohammed Siraj. Thus, an interesting confrontation awaits us at 7:30 p.m. in Wankhede.
