The Sri Lanka cricket team had a magnificent performance in the T20I series against Bangladesh and ensured that they were on track for the T20 World Cup 2024. They won the series by a margin of 2-1 and were fantastic with bat and ball.
Sri Lanka started the series on a high note as they won the first game by a margin of 3 runs. When asked to bat first, they put a mammoth total of 206 runs on the board. They were challenged a lot in the second innings but held their nerve and restricted the opponents to 203 to win the game.
In the second match, Sri Lanka suffered a rout. They were asked to bat first and managed only 165 runs. With the ball, they were not up to the task as Bangladesh batted brilliantly to win the game by 8 wickets and level the series by the margin of 1-1.
Sri Lanka’s best came in the series decider. They were asked to bat first once again and had a decent outing. Kusal Mendis (86) played a brutal innings at the top of the order while vital contributions from the others propelled Sri Lanka to a total of 174 runs.
With the ball, Nuwan Untilhara wreaked havoc on the Bangladesh batting line-up by picking a fifer that included a hat-trick. His sensational show with the ball reduced the rival to 32/6. Rishad Hossain (53) tried to keep his team in the hunt, but in the end the target was too difficult to pursue.
Captain Wanindu Hasranga picked two wickets, while Dhananjaya de Silva, Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka picked one wicket each. Sri Lanka outscored Bangladesh by 146 runs and won the game by 28 runs.

For reference, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan during the match against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup 2023 appealed the time-out dismissal against Angelo Mathews. The veteran all-rounder came out to bat and the strap on his helmet broke, which took him more time to bat.
However, this did not go well for the Bangladesh captain as he called for a time-out dismissal and the batsman was dismissed.
