Varun Chakravarthy shines again for India
Varun Chakravarthy has been bowling exceptionally since his return to the Indian team. The mystery player has become the team’s first choice player and has sealed his position in the playing eleven.
In the first T20I against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban, Varun Chakravarthy bagged three wickets for just 25 runs. The spinner continued his form in the second T20I and dismantled the Proteas batting unit.
He started by picking up the wicket of Aiden Markram on the second ball of the sixth over. Varun Chakravarthy bowled a stellar strike that Markram couldn’t read and saw his stumps shake.
He continued to deceive the South African batsmen with googlies as he dismissed Reeza Hendricks on the fourth ball of the eighth over and Marco Jansen on the fifth ball of the eleventh over.
Varun Chakravarthy then produced a double wicket by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen on the first ball of the 13th over and then rattled David Miller’s stumps again to duck on the first ball.
Varun Chakravarthy finished his spell with sensational bowling figures of 4-0-17-5. These were the best bowling figures for the mystery spinner of T20I cricket.

Indian bowlers dominated South Africa in first T20I
The Indian bowlers put up a clinical display in the first T20I, bowling South Africa out for 141 in just 17.5 overs. With a target of 203 runs to chase, South Africa’s batting line-up crumbled under the pressure, never finding momentum as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
Arshdeep Singh got India off to the perfect start, removing captain Aiden Markram for 8 in the first over, setting the tone for what would be a challenging night for South Africa.
Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi then took center stage, dominating the mids with a mix of precision and sharp turns. Chakravarthy was instrumental, picking up three crucial wickets including dangerous batsmen Ryan Rickelton, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. His clever use of variations saw him finish with figures of 3 for 25, effectively sealing South Africa’s fate midway through their innings.
Bishnoi’s spell was equally shocking. He caught Patrick Kruger and Andile Simelane with his tricky googlies, and convinced Marco Jansen to play an ill-timed shot that led to his dismissal, concluding his spell with 3 for 28. Right-arm pacer Avesh Khan wrapped things up by castling Keshav. Maharaj in the 18th over to help India claim a comprehensive 61-run victory.
