Indian star batsman Virat Kohli’s wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma celebrated her husband’s century during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Anushka Sharma’s celebration after Virat’s Test century quickly went viral on internet social media platforms.

Virat completed his 30th Test during the series opener at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Sunday, November 24. The right-handed batsman scored 100 runs off 143 balls, including eight boundaries and two sixes. Team India captain Jasprit Bumrah declared the innings with a massive total of 487/6.

The 36-year-old batsman reached his 81st international ton with a knock off Marnus Labuschagne in the final session of the third day. Kohli’s century came at a crucial time as he had been going through a rough patch in Tests.

He celebrated the century with his wife Anushka Sharma and a supportive crowd. Kohli was seen blowing kisses to his wife several times and both looked delighted.

Speaking to a broadcaster during the innings break, Virat Kohli expressed his gratitude for the support of his wife, Anushka Sharma, who has been with him through difficult times. Kohli acknowledged his understanding of the struggles he faces when he does not perform well for his team.

“Yes, it seems like Anushka has been by my side. She knows everything that happens behind the scenes in my room. She knows how it feels when I can’t get runs for my team. I feel very proud to play for my country and I am very happy to have one here in front of her,” Kohli said, as quoted by CREX.

Virat Kohli smashes colossal records during his 30th Test century

The Delhi-born cricketer now has seven centuries in Australia, putting him on top among Indian batsmen for most Test centuries in the country. Kohli also equaled Sunil Gavaskar’s record of most Test hundreds in a visiting country of India. Notably, this was his seventh century against Australia in Tests.

India set Australia a huge target of 534 runs to win. Australia lost the first wickets on Day 3, with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing Nathan McSweeney off the fourth ball. Mohammed Siraj then dismissed night watchman Pat Cummins. Marnus Labuschagne was also dismissed by Bumrah, leaving Australia at 12/3.
