In a cute moment that instantly went viral on social media, the video of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli calling his wife Anushka Sharma and children Vamika and Akaay after the conclusion of the match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 25.

The match between the team led by Faf du Plessis and Shikhar Dhawan & Co. was held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the home team emerged victorious by 4 wickets.

Bowling first in the match, RCB restricted PBKS to 176/6 in their 20 overs as Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell picked up two wickets each, while Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph bagged one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Virat Kohli brought out his chase master avatar and scored a sensational 77 runs off 49 balls. It looked like his knock would go in vain but Dinesh Karthik didn’t let that happen and he along with Mahipal Lomror finished the match for RCB. Karthik shone under pressure and took the PBKS bowlers to task in the final overs to ensure his team crossed the finish line.

After the match, Virat Kohli’s act caught the attention of the fans. The star batsman was seen interacting with someone on a video call and the way he was conversing made it very clear that he was on the call with his family members Anushka Sharma, Vamika and Akaay. Kohli was seen making some funny gestures during the interaction and gave a flying kiss to his family before ending the call.

Notably, in February 2024, Kohli was blessed with his second son whom they named Akaay. Virat Kohli took a two-month break from cricket during that period and missed the entire Test series against the England national cricket team before returning to competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League in 2024.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also won the Man of the Match award for his heroics against Punjab Kings, and speaking after the match, he said that he always hopes to build memories during matches and was grateful to receive the love and appreciation from his fans. He elaborated:

“It has been going on for years (love affair with Chinnaswamy fans). People talk about many other things when you play sports: achievements, statistics, numbers. But when you look back, it’s the memories you create. “The love, appreciation and support I have received has been incredible.”

While talking about spending time with his family, Virat Kohli called it a surreal experience. He said spending time as a regular person on the road was special to him. He elaborated:

“Just feeling normal for two months (for me and my family) was a surreal experience. I couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with family. It is an incredible experience to be another person on the road and not be recognized. That’s the promise I can make here. I’ll keep showing up and I’ll keep trying.the best of me.”
