There is absolutely no denying that Virat Kohli is one of the best fielders in the world. Widely regarded as one of the fittest cricketers in the world, the Indian superstar displays exemplary performance on the field.

No matter whether he plays inside the circle or in the deep, Virat Kohli rarely fails to make an impact on the field. However, the former India captain made a rare mistake on the field during the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Saturday (April 6) and cost his team four precious runs.

The incident took place in the eighth over when Himanshu Sharma was bowling to RR captain Sanju Samson. On the second ball of the over, Samson hit the ball in the gap between deep medium and long-on. Virat Kohli, who was standing at mid-wicket, ran in and the ball was within his reach, but he decided not to try.

He apparently thought that Mayan Dagar, who was running from afar, would catch the ball. However, Dagar did not go for the ball as well and the ball went on to hit the boundary ropes.

Watch Virat Kohli’s blunder:

Early in the game, Virat Kohli starred with the bat to propel RCB to a competitive total after RR won the toss and opted to bowl first. The former RCB captain scored the first century of the ongoing IPL 2024, helping RCB finish their innings at 183/3 in the allotted 20 overs.

He shared a mammoth 125-run stand with captain Faf du Plessis for the first wicket before Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed the latter for 44 in the 14th over. The onus was on the middle-order batsmen to give the finishing touch, but they failed.

Players like Glenn Maxwell (1) and Saurav Chauhan (9) failed to deliver but Kohli stayed on till the end to lead his team to a good score. The former Indian captain eventually remained unbeaten with 113 off 72 balls. His knock was studded with 12 fours and four sixes.
