Which franchise has the best bowling attack after IPL 2025 auction?

Since the shortest format is a batsman-dominated game, it becomes equally, if not more, important to build a strong bowling battery that can counter the big hits.

The recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction provided all 10 franchises with a fantastic opportunity to strengthen their attack as they prepare for another season of high-octane action.

While the shorter format is primarily a batsman-dominated game, it becomes equally, if not more, important to build a strong bowling battery that can counter the big hits.

Echoing the same line, former Indian cricketer-turned-analyst Aakash Chopra identified the team that managed to attract the best bowlers in the business and staged a lethal bowling attack after the IPL 2025 auction. Chopra rated Delhi Capitals (DC) as the franchise with one of the best bowling lineups and praised their bowling as one of their biggest strengths.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra said: “They (DC) have probably put together the best bowling in this tournament. You will find Gujarat bowling very good. If you leave out a spinner, Mumbai has one of the best bowling attacks. So focus on the fact that they (DC) have the best death bowling attack.”

Delhi Capitals made quality acquisitions in bowling department in IPL 2025 auction

DC retained two spinners – Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav before heading to the auction in Jeddah. However, they strengthened their pace department with some quality signings in Mitchell Starc, T Natarajan, Mohit Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Darshan Nalkande and Dushmantha Chameera.

Starc (INR 11.75 crore) was Delhi Capitals’ most expensive bowling pick in the auction. While they spent INR 10.75 crore on Natarajan, they bought Mukesh and Mohit for INR 8 crore and INR 2.2 crore respectively.

Chopra also pointed out that Natarajan and Mukesh have impressive numbers in the death overs, ranking among the lowest economies.
